Petit Puits
a
retreat in South West France

    Practical information

Although in the countryside Petit Puits is not far from the practicalities of life.

There are a village shop, two boulangerie,  a pharmacy, a hair dressing salon, and a restaurant
in Parisot which is 3 minutes away.

Caylus which is 6 minutes away boasts a larger range of shops as well as 4 restaurants/cafes.

Villefranche de Rouergue is 20 odd minutes away and has it all. Hypermarket, numerous shops,
        multiple restaurants, you name it!

Both St Antonin & Villefranche have cinemas where the latest films can be seen many times in
        English.

Best of all the area abounds in outdoor farmers markets. They range from a small market in
Parisot on Fridays to the largest market in the area in Villefranche on Thursday. Sunday
has markets in both St Antonin and Limogne both excellent. On Monday our favorite market
takes place in Caussade. There's even a small market in Caylus on Wednesdays & Saturdays.
(we don't know why Tuesday is left out?)

In summer the area abounds with village festivals nearly all of which feature a 'repas'. This is a
community meal open to all, Excellent food and wine for between 10 and 15 Euros. The wine
       does wonders for one's French!

Finally, there are both brocantes and vide greniers every weekend all summer. A brocante is the
French equivalent of a flea market and a vide grenier (literally 'empty attic') is the same as a
car boot sale. Both are fun and bargains are to be had- particularly at the vide greniers.

There's even more, but we can fill you in when you come to stay.
